The stunning artwork of the display stand is designed by world-renowned French artist Bernar Venet, who dynamically unites the history and modern vision of the House, with three clusters of metal arches, representing the 300-year anniversary, powerfully juxtaposing with the elegant, teardrop-shaped Sèvres crystal decanter. This energy of steel and simplicity of crystal come together to envelop the outstanding blend, which can only be drawn from the heart of the carafe with a special pipette, as used by the Cellar Master himself.
In a celebration like no other, Cellar Master Benoit Fil has traced the footsteps of Jean Martell, piecing together the story of an exceptional and visionary spirit, 300 years later. Using his original correspondence, Fil constructed a map of Jean Martell’s key suppliers from 1735 to 1742, returning to the very roots of the House.
Visiting winegrowers just as Jean Martell did generations before him, Fil met with the winegrowing families whose ancestors had originally supplied the brand’s founder. From this remarkable journey, Fil identified 18 exceptional eaux de vie - 17 from Grande Champagne and 1 from the Borderies, to create Martell Premier Voyage. An exclusive cognac, crafted to celebrate 300-years of excellence, and the perfect homage to the visionary spirit of Jean Martell.
A distinctive new blend, where power and depth are provided by the eaux de vie from Grande Champagne, and refined balance offered by the exclusive Borderies region, the hallmark of Martell. The initial nose has very generous notes of candied peel, blackcurrant, honey and gingerbread.Swirling brings out the full elegance of old walnuts, dried fruit, apricots and raisins. The mouthfeel is both full and delicate, with generous aromas of candied fruit. A hint of blackcurrant then develops, complementing the rich and elegant aromatic range, underpinning a long finish of spice and beeswax notes.
