This right here is a 25 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Talisker distillery. Housing a single malt Scotch whisky that was predominantly matured in American oak hogsheads with some European oak refill released in 2018, For the first incarnation of Talisker 25 Year Old, the Isle of Skye distillery had bottled the spirit at cask strength. However, it has since reduced the ABV to what is known by people like me (who are well connected, and in the know - don't you know?) as 'Talisker strength' - a delightfully specific 45.8% ABV. Truly spectacular stuff from the beautiful island of Skye.

Nose: Banana fritters, sea spray, old oak furniture, cider apples, a whiff of Frazzles, all held together with crumbly fudge notes.

Palate: Floral heather - perhaps a hint of rose too. Develops heavier notes of salted caramel, chilli chocolate, smoky barley and nectarines.

Finish: Smoke becomes sweet on the finish, with an undercurrent of cedar.
